Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark is a survival horror video game developed by Frictional Games and published by Atari. It was released on November 18, 2005 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 2. A port for the Xbox 360 was released on August 25, 2007, and a port for the PlayStation 3 was released on November 18, 2009. A remastered version of the game was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 14, 2019. The player controls protagonist Edward Carnby, who is investigating the disappearance of his wife, Marian, in the fictional town of Darkwater. The game is set in a randomly generated environment, with the player exploring the town and its surroundings for clues to Marian’s whereabouts. They must avoid being attacked by monsters, and use items found in the environment to defend themselves. If the player is killed, they are sent back to the beginning of the game. Alone in the Dark was well-received by critics, who praised its atmosphere and gameplay. The game has sold over three million copies. The game story begins with Edward Carnby, a private detective, being called to investigate a series of mysterious murders in the city of London. The victims have all been found with their eyes gouged out, and Carnby soon realizes that he’s up against a cunning and ruthless killer. Carnby’s investigations lead him to the city’s dark and haunted corners, and he soon uncovers a sinister plot involving a group of powerful and corrupt businessmen. Carnby must use all of his skills and ingenuity to outwit his enemies and solve the mystery of the murders..
