NHL 2003 is a hockey video game developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports. It is the fourth installment in the NHL series, and was released on November 2, 2002 in North America, November 3, 2002 in Europe, and November 4, 2002 in Japan. It was later released on the Wii in November 2009. The game features a new 3 on 3 mode in which players can compete against each other on a small rink. The game also introduces EASHL, EA Sports’ online hockey service. NHL 2003 is the last game in the EA Sports NHL series to use the 3 on 3 mode. EASHL is a multiplayer online hockey service that was introduced in NHL 2003. It allows up to sixteen players to compete in a season, or in a series of matches. The service is free to use, and features a variety of features such as online leaderboards and matchmaking. NHL 2003 was met with mixed reviews from critics.
