Thunder Blade is a side-scrolling action game developed and published by Technos Japan for the Turbografx-16. It was released in Japan in 1988 and in North America in 1989. The game is set in a world of swords and sorcery, in which the player controls a character named Blade, who must travel through seven different levels to defeat the evil wizard, Zarga. Blade can attack enemies with his sword, or use magic to cast spells and defeat enemies. The game features a password system, allowing players to continue playing after losing a life. Thunder Blade received mixed reviews upon release. Critics praised the graphics and the variety of levels, but criticized the difficulty and the lack of a save system. The game has since been re-released on several platforms, including the Wii Virtual Console in 2009 and the PlayStation Network in 2012.
